You don’t need to know the vile particulars of my insane ritual. Let’s just say that saving my non-recyclables from the landfill required way too much of my valuable free time. However, I’m not here to relive those gloomy times. I’m here to inform you that there is a better way to break free from the tyranny of single-use plastic bags and maintain somewhat more efficient kitchen operations.
Rose here—my name is Rose, and I adore my Stasher bags.

Stashers are reusable storage containers made of food-grade silicone that can be used in the dishwasher, the refrigerator or freezer, and boiling water. (You can sous-vide in them, actually.) In other words, they are incredibly strong and adaptable without sacrificing design for utility. Additionally, stasher bags come in a range of sizes and appealing hues, such as gentle pastels and vibrant neons. They’ve become an essential component of my routine as I continually switch between different food preparation and waste storage activities.
endless uses and years of use
I pack on-the-go snacks and store fresh herbs, lemon wedges, sausages, and expensive cheese in my tiniest Stashers (like these 4-ounce bags). Because of its stand-up bottom design, the Stand-Up Mega Stasher can comfortably contain my family’s weekly 4-pound roast chicken, both before and after we cook it. (We put the bag in the dishwasher while eating supper; once it is clean, we put the remaining parts of the bird back in the bag and use them to make chicken noodle soup later.)
Despite the fact that I mostly use my sandwich-sized Stashers for leftovers or, if I’m feeling particularly daring, for marinating one or two chicken breasts or fish filets, I was happy to learn that the bags are slightly wider at the top when used for sandwiches, making it especially simple to get a sandwich in and out.
I’ve recently started packing my toiletry bags for trips in my medium-sized Stashers (either the half-gallon Stasher or the 28-ounce sandwich Stasher). I appreciate that I can see everything inside the bag, that I can leave it on a damp counter if necessary, and that the bag’s seal will not be compromised by road turbulence or potholes.

Holds your clutter and is simple to clean
I totally agree with our praise of Stashers for being sleek and space-saving in our guide to the best reusable produce bags. My Stasher drawer (which is actually about a third of a drawer, with each Stasher folded in half) is a location of easy access and wonderful serenity, in contrast to my Tupperware cabinet, which frequently torments me with its disastrous variety of mismatched containers and lids.
Stashers are quite easy to keep clean. Depending on their size, I place them upside-down in my dishwasher’s top or bottom rack, and thus far, no greasy residue or off-putting odor has been left behind.
Stashers on sale are the best stashers.
Stashers are expensive, but over the past few years, I’ve gradually accumulated a collection at discount pricing.
Remember that buying Stashers individually tends to raise the cost per bag. Purchasing starter kits and bundles, especially when they’re on sale, is undoubtedly more cost-effective.
Rose here, and I’m about to run out and purchase additional Stasher bags.
